A one-day Symposium held for combating air pollution

Engingeer Ezatullah sediqi deputy director in technical affairs of National Environmental Protection Agency, Ministry of Agriculture, Kabul municipality, social organizations and media attended a one-day Symposium for combating air pollution in Kole-Hashmat-Khan hall of this agency.
Engineer Ezatullah sediqi while welcoming the participants talked in detail about increasing air ‎pollution ‎in Kabul, pollutant sources, and plans of the agency. He said: that today’s threats and ‎problems of air ‎pollution is due to the unplanned development and rehabilitation of Kabul city by the ‎government ‎and people. When this government is created 15 years ago, the people had the Enthusiasm to ‎build the ‎country so they didn’t consider environmental rules and regulations in construction projects.

Mr sediqi added: NEPA has made a five-year plan and determined 50 pollutant sources, 22 ministries ‎‎are responsible to implement the plan. He said: that we try to motivate social societies, Mula Imams ‎, ‎and academic organizations to coordinate with National Environmental Protection Agency in public ‎‎awareness programs.
Consequently, Kazim Homahyon director of Kabul Environmental Protection department spoke about the activities done for decreasing the air pollution, Hassan Ghulami director for Environmental health department of Kabul municipality spoke about the plans and actions, and Mohammad Aman Amanyar head of jungle department at agriculture ministry spoke about the green belt of Kabul. He said: The Ministry of Agriculture has so far planted 25 hectares of land as a green belt and planted saplings in it.
During the symposium the participants visited from an exhibit about renewable energy, an open ‎discussion took place and the oxygen group presented a theatrical piece in combating air pollution. The ‎symposium concluded with presentations about renewable energy. The symposium was held in ‎coordination with Green Way organization and with the financial help of SGP and GEF.
