National Environmental Protection Agency held a meeting in Wakhan Hall of the agency for extending environmental cooperation with the representatives of Capital Zone Development Authority.
Dr. Ahmad Hassib Payab, deputy of Policy, Plan, and Monitoring at NEPA, heads of the directorates, head ‎of Capital Zone Development Authority, and his team participated in the meeting.
At the beginning, Mr. Mansoori gave an informative presentation on the draft law of the Capital Zone Development Authority and the joint work of the two agencies. He stressed that The National Environmental Protection Agency should cooperate in the implementation of the New Kabul project from beginning to end.
Mr. Payab said: We must strike a balance between economic development and environmental protection management, protecting and conserving the environment and nature ensures our future, unfortunately, various government sectors do not include environmental conservation laws and regulations in their development projects.
The National Environmental Protection Agency (NEPA) is ready to cooperate with the relevant agencies. The agency will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Capital Zone Development Authority (CZDA) in near future and will make a joint technical and working committee to jointly create project concept notes and proposals for development of international financial mechanisms and to receive international assistance in adapting and combating #climate change. The National Environmental Protection Agency (NEPA) also plans to set up an independent research and development unit under its umbrella to conduct research and prepare project notes and proposals.
This unit's policies and analysis would aid in the development of useful plans and strategies based on scientific principles, which will lay the groundwork for environmental protection.
